Angels of Bangkok

There are more than 10.000 transsexuals in Thailand .

Male-to-female transsexuals (MTF), or shemales-people start their life with male bodies but they want to be women. .Many of the ‘katoeys’ have already undergone transgender surgery and to all intents and purposes can be considered female.

Kathoeys remain legally male, even after sex re-assignment.

One of the main outlets for expressing themselves is to perform in costume and dance cabarets and transsexual shows. Others enter the sex trade.Each year there are several kathoeybeauty contests throughout Thailand .
